Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is crowned Miss Universe 2017

On 26th November 2017, Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017 at the AXIS theater at Planet Hollywood casino-resort on the Las Vegas Strip.  Nel-Peters is 22 years old. She was born in Sedgefield, South Africa. She recently earned her degree in business management. She wants to use her reign to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and self-defense causes.  Along with the title, Nel-Peters earned a yearlong salary, a luxury apartment in New York City for the duration of her reign and more prizes. The runner-up was Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez, and the second runner-up was Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett. Ninety-two women from around the world participated in the Miss Universe competition.
