Power Ministry sets up panel under P.D. Siwal to probe NTPC’s Unchahar plant accident

On November 1, 2017, a boiler blast accident occurred at NTPC’s Unchahar plant in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh in which 36 people lost their lives. Union Power Ministry has set up a panel to probe this accident. Union Power Ministry has set up a committee headed by P.D. Siwal, Member of Central Electricity Authority (CEA) to investigate the causes of this accident and suggest measures to prevent such incidents in future. Subir Chakraborty, Director-Projects at Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd; L.D. Papney, Chief Engineer, Thermal Engineering and Technology Development Division at CEA and Dhawal Prakash Antapurkar, Director of Steam Boilers, Maharashtra are the other members of this committee.
